Dr. Courtney Lyder is Professor of Nursing, Internal Medicine & Geriatrics and the inaugural holder of the University of Virginia Medical Center Professorship at the University of Virginia. He is also Chairman, Department of Acute and Specialty Care at the University of Virginia. In the past 10 years, Dr. Lyder has received as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator nearly $7 million in research and training grants related to elder care. He has published 2 books, 45 journal articles, 20 book chapters and 70 abstracts. His articles have been published in such prestigious journals as Journal of the American Medical Association, Archives of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Surgery, and Journal of the American Medical Directors Association. He serves on 5 journal editorial boards and reviews manuscripts for 12 medical and nursing journals. Dr. Lyder is a senior consultant to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services where he has influenced regulations and policies related to care of elders.
